The 2016 All Africa Music Awards was a sight to behold. This was arguably the longest red carpet Lagos events has produced.
The organization was great but for the African Time thingy where artistes and invitees didn’t arrive on time for the event to begin as stipulated.
Wizkkid continues his reigh as the King of African music going away with the Artiste of the year award with his Nigerian counterparts Falz and Patoranking, Phyno, Flavour and Aramide joining the winners’ list.
Diamond Platnumz was hot for the night as he swooped three awards sealing his influence across African music.
Many people grumbled at artistes taking away the winning prizes against their Nigerian sweethearts but please, this event is to unite Africa and let’s remember that all 54 countries in Africa contributed to this award so it can’t largely be one-sided.
On the AFRIMA platform, all artistes across Africa are put on the same pedestal which makes it even more interesting.
King Sunny Ade, Manu Dibango and the Late Papa Wemba were honoured at the event.
