DROGBA TOLD ME TO BREAK THE RECORD! -MO’ SALAH
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah says that he was urged to break the Premier League scoring record by former teammate and Chelsea icon Didier Drogba .
Salah capped off an incredible debut season for the Reds, where scored 44 goals in all competitions. He also scored 32 goals in the Premier League, which is a record in a 38 game season! The winger who joined Liverpool from AS Roma is now attempting to recover from a shoulder injury sustained in the UEFA Champions League final so he can star for Egypt in the World Cup.
“When I reached 20 goals, I spoke with Didier Drogba. He told me: ‘Please, break the record!’ to which I responded laughing: ‘No worries, I will!’ “And I managed it. So I thought to myself, I have quite a few games to play before the end of the season, I can break the all-time record! It’s a great source of joy for me.”
Egypt are grouped in Group A for the world cup alongside Saudi Arabia, hosts Russia and South American giants, Uruguay who the Pharaohs will face in their opening fixture on June 15.
